To Read: The Last Lecture + a late weekly mantra

I've been sick all week, and when I'm sick I get a little down. I take it easy, I read a lot and I head to bed early. Most recently, I unplug.

This week's mantra comes from The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. Randy was a computer science professor, a husband and a father of three, who was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.

He decided to speak at something called "The Last Lecture" where he presented a talk about living your childhood dreams.

The lecture became so popular that it was immortalized in a best-selling book. It's a refreshing read about someone who despite having their life cut short, really understood how to live and dream. It's a somber speech, and you may need a few tissues.

I recommend this book for anyone looking for inspiration to make any sort of leap. This week's mantra is as follows:

"The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”

  1. Do not tell people how to live their lives. Just tell them stories. And they will figure out how those stories apply to them.- The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch is a heart-breaking yet heart-warming book. It made me contemplate the real value of my life .
