Vamp to Basics - The Kit - Beauty

I'll be the first to admit that there is nothing unique about talking about a dark lip for a winter beauty story. It reminds me of one of my favourite quotes from The Devil Wears Prada. The editors are conducting a run-through for a spring trend story and Meryl Streep says, "Florals for spring, how groundbreaking."

While the below post isn't groundbreaking, there is some wealth in trying out a new product to enhance a look. Happy vamping!

One of the most intriguing fall beauty trends has to be the vamp look. There is something romantic about a darker lip, a darker eye and an unsullied complexion. While my mind says, darken up, the rest of my wardrobe and routine is trapped in a lighter phase. Also, I’m not sure how well the vamp look would go over in my office boardroom. However, I still yearn for something to separate my lips from the pinky glosses that look too childish at this time of year.

Cue Joe Fresh’s Lip Tint in “Plum.” If you always wanted to experiment with darker shades but felt a lipstick was too heavy, a tint is the best of both worlds. A dark tint will lightly stain your lips without the thick application of a creamy stick. Also, you can build colour with more or less application and it will soak into your lips instead of just resting on top.

A tint is great for daytime and at $6, you can’t go wrong. I find this shade gives me that “just ate a purple popsicle” look, rather than that I’m about to bite my boss for blood look. Garlic necklace not included.

  1. I have been experimenting with darker lips too. Hard for me to get used to because I am definitely more comfortable with the lighter shades.
