Fit for Fall?

As I recently bloggedchange is seasonal- but fitness shouldn't be.

Now that the string bikinis are neatly tucked away, 'beach bods' can fade faster than Lindsay Lohan's career. The cooler weather makes anyone want to snuggle up with a chunky knit sweater or a piece of chocolate cake. The night arrives faster, the layers pile on and the body recluses and relishes in steamy, stick to your ribs comfort food.

I've slightly fallen off the fitness wagon. A lot of factors can make people slack on their fitness; life gets busy, time is limited, and fall fashion is more forgiving to our bodies. The excuses are endless.

While I may look the same, I feel different. When I slack on working out, I feel sluggish, and unmotivated in all areas of my life. On the flipside, I feel unstoppable after I maintain a regular work-out routine. Exercise eases stress, ups my mood and helps clear my mind.

We all know the short-term and long- term benefits of working out, yet it can still be tough. A favourite, motivating quote of mine is:

"My feeling is that any day I am too busy to run is a day that I am too busy." -John Bryant. 

The "busy" excuse will only take us so far. Are we really too busy for our health? While I don't have the gusto to run every single day, I create a schedule that works for me.

The key is to find things you love. 

I like being outside so I plan to get as much fresh air, sunshine and outdoor exercise until Santa comes to town. I believe you have to find what works for you. I can't stand fitness dvds, so I don't force myself to do them. Instead, I enjoy running, hot yoga and walking my dog Bailey.

So how will my other non-models keep fit this season?


  1. I need to borrow Bailey so I am forced to exercise haha

  2. Biking! Few things make me happier than biking the 20 minute ride to and from work, or biking through the beautiful streets of montreal. I get to take in the scenery AND exercise!

    Good for you for running. I'm hoping to get up to the motivation to start doing the same :)
